Before You Accept a UAE Job Offer: A 10-Point Checklist

A written offer is the starting point for checking whether a role meets your needs. Use this checklist to organise the details before you sign.

Ten things to confirm

  1. Employer: independently verify the company and the person communicating with you.
  2. Role: confirm the job title, responsibilities, reporting line and expected results.
  3. Location: ask where you will work and whether travel or relocation is expected.
  4. Basic pay: identify the exact monthly basic salary.
  5. Allowances: separate guaranteed housing, transport and other fixed amounts from variable earnings.
  6. Variable pay: request the commission or bonus rules in writing.
  7. Benefits: confirm what medical, accommodation, transport or other benefits are actually included.
  8. Working arrangement: clarify the working days, hours, leave and any overtime arrangements.
  9. Contract: check probation, notice and the applicable employment authority.
  10. Permission to start: confirm the appropriate work permit and authorised start date.

Compare the offer with your budget

Use guaranteed income for your essential budget. Treat an uncertain bonus as a separate scenario. Estimate housing, commuting and other recurring costs, then calculate what remains for savings and commitments.

Verify before paying or travelling

Follow the official UAE labour and visa fraud guidance to verify an offer. Do not assume a tourist or visit visa permits employment.

Keep a simple decision record

Save the offer, your questions and the employer’s written answers. Resolve differences between the offer and contract before signing. Do not rely on a promised benefit that has not been documented.
